“We are grateful to Congresswoman Garcia for listening to her constituents and taking a principled stand on this critical issue. Her decision to co-sponsor the Block The Bombs Act demonstrates that constituent engagement works—and that elected officials can and will respond when their communities speak up. We look forward to continuing to work with Rep. Garcia's office on issues that matter to Muslim Americans and all those who believe in human rights and accountability.”

The Block The Bombs Act (H.R.3565) is historic legislation introduced by Representatives Delia Ramirez (IL-04), Sara Jacobs (CA-51), Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), and Mark Pocan (WI-02). It represents the first time in history that Congress has worked to proactively halt offensive U.S. weapons transfers to Israel.
The bill would block the transfer of:
The legislation includes oversight mechanisms requiring Congressional approval and documentation of intended use for any such transfers.
MUPAC engaged with Congresswoman Garcia's office over the course of approximately one month, communicating the importance of this legislation to Muslim Americans and constituents in Texas' 29th Congressional District who care about human rights and U.S. foreign policy accountability.
This outcome demonstrates what is possible when constituents and advocacy organizations work together to engage their elected officials. We encourage community members across the country to reach out to their own representatives and urge them to co-sponsor H.R.3565.
MUPAC looks forward to continuing our relationship with Congresswoman Garcia's office and working together on issues that matter to the Muslim American community. We remain committed to engaging elected officials at all levels of government and holding them accountable to the values of human rights, dignity, and justice.
